FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS ON NORTH-SOUTH PKWY IMPACTING OUR VILLAGE

(Click on above image to make it larger.)

A petition seeking community-friendly design for this four-lane, divided roadway which will border Chester Village Green and go through the heart of Chestrer, is available by clicking on the following link:

A very large number of signers are needed to be able to influence the road planners. Please spread the word and the petition link, and print the petition and circulate it. Decisions will be made this summer!
The Chester Business Association considers the issue at their June 3 meting.

Our Bermuda District Supervisor, Dorthy Jaekle, indicated her support of a pedestrian friendly road, and wants to work to achieve the balance of a road that will relieve traffic woes but not disrupt the Chester Community. She encourages everyone to be involved in the planning of this road.
Also email Dorothy at: jaeckled@chesterfield.gov
Also, volunteers are needed at the ready to push the
community's vision for the north-south boulevard.

Some of the action items for your consideration:

1. Get petitions out to everyone who is willing to
collect signatures. We need thousands, not hundreds.

2. Distribute flyers to all businesses in support of
the community's vision

3. Work to have a petition signing booth or roving
signature collector at upcoming Celebration of the Vine and the Chester Business Association cookout.

NEW FEATURES

We have added three new features located in the left hand side column:

1) The Homeowners Association Corner --a regularly updated listing of concerns identified by our Board of Directors and/or by residents, and the follow-up responses. Check this often to keep up with what's happening in Chester Village Green!

2) An easy way to sign up to receive a free email notice each time a new item is posted here at The Chester Village Green News.

3) A button that allows you to chat about Chester Village Green matters with others who may be visiting the site at the same time. No limit to the number of "chatters" at the same time. Just click on the green arrow in the black box labeled, "cvgnews". You will then hear a short ad followed by word that others are/are not in the cvgnews chat room at the moment. Clicking the red square button (that replaced the green arrow after you clicked on it) will terminate your participation in the chat. Your computor must have a microphone (either built-in or external) and ear phones or built-in speakers, to use this feature.

CVG POLICE REPORTS: 2007, AND 2008 1ST QUARTER

For easier reading, you can enlarge the two police reports below by clicking on them.

The Police Dept. provides the following disclaimer for these statistics:
"We may not geographically define the complex identically to that [with] which you may be accustomed. Hence, there is no guarantee that all of these offenses occurred in the area you consider Chester Village Green. Also, please realize that the existence of an offense report does not necessarily indicate an arrest for that offense. Circumstances that initially required that an offense report be completed may have changed after the initial investigation."

Compare the above statistics for CVG with annual stats for the whole county, below:

WHERE, OH WHERE HAS OUR FOUNTAIN GONE???

Above, the fountain working normally.

Several weeks ago, the fountain in our Village pond stopped working. The fountain not only has aesthetic value, but also practical value. It helps aerate the water and stop the growth of algae.
Recently, repairs were started, but are now stalled, waiting for shipment of parts.
This photo shows the fountain pump awaiting parts.

MORE CONCERNING NEW PARKWAY WHICH WILL IMPACT CVG

(Click on map to enlarge it.)

May 9, Lisa Coffee will be attending a meeting with Transportation. Supervisor, Dorothy Jaeckle, and VDOT (state) will also be in attendance. This meeting will focus on the new North/South parkway which will impact Chester Village Green. If you have any comments/ suggestions/ questions you would like to see addressed, please email Lisa by May 7th at
bcandlc@comcast.net.

Also, please continue to press county transportation for maps on the proposed
roadways; don't settle for the one from the 80's. Also, continue to offer your board of supervisor rep (Dorothy Jaekle, see her email address in lower left side panel) feedback in the form of questions/concerns/comments concerning the proposed roadways. The more she hears the more willing she will be to work with the public.
