LIBRARY VANDALIZED--1ST ARTS CENTER CONCERT

LIBRARY VANDALIZED

On Sunday night, June 15, two glass doors and four windows were smashed in with bricks. The Village News reports that the damage estimate is $3,000. If you have information that might help the police, call Crime Solvers, (804) 748-1278.

THE 1ST IN A SERIES OF ARTS CENTER CONCERTS to benefit the planned Chesterfield Center for the Arts was held on the Green in front of the Chester LIbrary, where the Arts Center will be built. A small but enthousiastic crowd thoroughly enjoyed the performance by the VCU Jazz Trio. Food and drinks were available from a Chick-Fil-A booth. (The Center for the Arts Foundation is required to raise $2 million toward construction, while the county will provide the rest (estimated at $8.9 million or more) through a bond issue.)

FUTURE CONCERTS:

July 19, Sat., at 3:00 and 7:00 pm, The Virginians Barbershop Chorus

August 22, Friday, 6:30 pm, the VCU Jazz Dept. Rhodes Quartet

Sept. 20, Sat., 4:30 pm, The Christopher Wren Singers of the College of William & Mary

For tickets, call 748-5982
